The Good and The Extreme

THE  GOOD:

*  Vice President Joe Biden was in Ohio yesterday.  Toledo Blade:

Vice President Joe Biden marched in Toledo's Labor Day Parade yMonday, giving a boost to the morale of union members stuck in a weak economy and lending political support to the re-election efforts of fellow Democrat Gov. Ted Strickland.
To the delight of several thousand cheering union marchers and parade spectators, the 67-year-old vice president walked briskly and sometimes broke into a trot as he bounced from one side of the street to the other, at times outrunning his gaggle of Secret Service protectors....

...."The vice president, he's a real person and I admire him a great deal, and had a chance to spend some quality time as we drove here from the airport," Mr. Strickland said after the parade. "He's committed to do everything he can to make sure Ohio is successful and moves forward."

I just love Joe Biden!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>THE  EXTREME -
****  What the heck is going on in Florida?

Washington Post:

Gen. David H. Petraeus on Tuesday denounced plans by a Florida church to burn copies of the Koran this weekend, saying the demonstration could "endanger troops" and damage the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan....
...The Dove World Outreach Center, a 50-member evangelical Christian church in Gainesville, Fla., announced plans to burn the Islamic holy books on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. At the Kabul protest, residents burned an effigy of Dove World pastor Terry Jones...

Why are the members of this church trying to incite terrorists? I hope they come to their senses and stop their planned demonstration.

*  Some Ohio bloggers have been questioning the validity of the most recent Columbus Dispatch mail in poll. The poll showed Kasich running ahead of Gov. Ted Strickland.

*  Gov. Ted Strickland has been telling it like it is. He knows what the Republicans and Kasich have up their sleeves.  WLWT:

Ted Strickland delivered a blistering attack on his Republican challenger John Kasich, labeling him a "Wall Streeter" and an "out-sourcer" of jobs....

.....He told the crowd that the recession was not inevitable, that the Wall Street mentality and corporate avarice cost Ohio hundreds of thousands of jobs.

He also hit hard at the GOP, declaring it overrun by extremist elements and conservative radicals who want to change the Constitution.....

Strickland is correct.  Right ring extremists in the Republican Party want to repeal parts of the Constitution that they don't agree with because they think it gives too much power to citizens.

We know that Republican Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, wants to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments!  (More of his views can be seen at 912group-Stivers.) This kind of talk on his part and other is just plain wrong!  In his attempt to woo the voters of the 912 Beck groups, Teabaggers, anti-reproductive choice advocates, and other righties, Stivers has gone to the extreeeeeeeeme in politics while he gets big money from big oil, big banks, and major polluters.
