Democrats Getting to Work

With new majorities in the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and even the office of the Governor in Ohio, Democrats are excited and ready to get to work.

Democratic Representative Nancy Pelosi has her agenda ready, according to the Seattle PI: "Jobs, health care, education, energy independence, a safer America, a dignified retirement -- that's what the Democrats are all about and we're going to do that in the first 100 hours," Pelosi said on the campaign trail.

Senator Carl Levin said the following, according to Reuters: "We need to begin a phased redeployment of forces from Iraq in four to six months," Levin said on ABC's "This Week."

In Ohio, Governor-elect, and Democrat, Ted Strickland, is preparing his agenda for his term. He will most definitely try to fix the school funding problem in Ohio. The Dispatch has some background on it.

The most refreshing part of the new Democratic majority is that Republican Rep. Sensenbrenner won't be able to leave a congressional hearing room with the gavel and shut off the microphones.
