In honor of Veterans' Day, I'm posting In Flanders Fields:
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
*Today is the 231th anniversary for the U.S. Marine Corps. There will a dedication for the National Museum for the Marine Corp today.
*By the way, this White House and the Republicans have not done enough to protect our military and help our vets. All you need to do is read about the death of Pat Tillman.
*A lot was written about the meeting between Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi and President Bush. Mr. Bush will find that it will be more difficult to push through his agenda. Let me rephrase that---it will be impossible. Pelosi and the Democrats will get to work to help the middle class, end the war, and move legislation that helps real people, not corporations.
