Opposition to Cervical Cancer Vaccine is Ridiculous

A new medical breakthrough will allow young girls to be vaccinated against cervical cancer. This sounds like a wonderful way to prevent cervical cancer. However, there are some people and groups, who feel that this vaccine will encourage their young women to pursue sexual promiscuity. Are these people just plain stupid? If you can save your daughter from going through the misery of having cancer, why wouldn't you grab the opportunity? People who would deny their daughters this vaccine are just plain ignorant.

In the coming months, right wing groups will be out there trying to oppose massive, statewide vaccines for girls. They'll be talking about risks, sex, parental rights, and a whole bunch of stuff that will attempt to mask their stupidity. Ignore the opposition to the vaccine. • About 10,000 women each year are diagnosed with cervical cancer. And another 1.2 million will develop a pre-cancer affliction, dysplasia, reports Aging & Elder Health Week.

• A vaccine made by the Merck Co. immunizes against strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes most cervical cancer cases.

Be smart and immunize your daughter as soon as you can.
