Problems, Problems, Problems

* Did you know that your purse might be toxic? KTNV.com:
...A new study shows that some handbags, purses and wallets from some popular department stores can contain excessive amounts of lead....
....Researchers found that many of the bags tested 90 times higher than the federal lead paint standard.
And the bags rich in color, (i.e. green, yellow & orange) tested the highest.....

** This second problem may not directly show results in the U.S. There is a very interesting article in the NY Times that explains a cultural preference that has created a population problem in China.
NYTimes.com:
A bias in favor of male offspring has left China with 32 million more boys under the age of 20 than girls, creating “an imminent generation of excess men,” a study released Friday said. For the next 20 years, China will have increasingly more men than women of reproductive age, according to the paper, which was published online by the British Medical Journal. “Nothing can be done now to prevent this,” the researchers said....
....The Chinese government is openly concerned “about the consequences of large numbers of excess men for social stability and security,” the researchers said....

This population imbalance could create some major problems within China.
