Could have survived if they had extra body armor..

The New York Times has an article that at first broke my heart and then made me angry. The first paragraph exposes the truth but the entire article is astounding:

A secret Pentagon study has found that at least 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to their upper body could have survived if they had extra body armor. That armor has been available since 2003 but until recently the Pentagon has largely declined to supply it to troops despite calls from the field for additional protection, according to military officials.....

Please read the entire article. Then contact your representatives and senators and tell them that this is unacceptable. 2193 of our sons and daughters have been killed in Iraq and now we find out that 80% of them could have survived if our government had followed through with its promises to support and protect our troops.
