Jindal's Beliefs Keep Scientists Away

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a Republican, has some very far right beliefs about a lot of things. He would like to have creationism taught in Louisiana's public schools. This is keeping scientists away. As Nola.com explains, "....The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is already committed to New Orleans for this year, but that will be it. Its president Gregory Petsko has declared, "No future meeting of our society will take place in Louisiana as long as that law stands."

"That law" is the Louisiana Science Education Act, which is named for what it is designed to destroy. Jindal signed it last year, clearing the way for creationism to be taught in biology class....."

As a result, scientific conventions and meetings that might normally be held in New Orleans or other major cities in Louisiana are canceling and rescheduling their functions out of the state. Mr. Jindal, who appears to have presidential aspirations, does not believe in science.
