News From All Over

* The Back Talk Blog at the Chicago Sun-Times has been running a contest of sorts to come up with a name for former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's book. Here are a few of my favorites contributed by readers:
Scumdog Millionaire
The Bouffant Cowboy
Wait Until You Hear the Whole Story

Check out the entire list at Back Talk.

* The Philadelphia Daily News has a story about the Wounded Warrior Program:

...The program - launched last year by U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-Pa.; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.; and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md. - provides disabled Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans with two-year fellowships with the House of Representatives.

The fellowships can lead to full-time jobs in congressional offices.

Thus far, nine wounded vets have been awarded fellowships. Lasko became the first Marine in the country to take advantage of the program when he went to work two months ago for U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-Pa.....

Dan Lasko's story is highlighted in the article.

* It has become apparent that Republican leader John Boehner doesn't know anything about economics. His suggestion that we cut all spending to get the economy moving is just plain dumb. It looks like Paul Krugman also has some critical words for Boehner in a recent opinion piece in the NY Times.

* Tonight Jim Cramer of CNBC will be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It should be fun.

* Did you know that South Carolina has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country? Gov. Sanford doesn't seem to care. His plan to use the federal stimulus money to pay off state debt has met with stiff opposition. Real Clear Politics here is an excerpt from today's post:

*Gov. Mark Sanford is officially rejecting federal stimulus funds, but the legislature plans to vote to accept it against his request. The State with the chaser to this shot: "Sanford's announcement came the same day as new unemployment data showed the state with the nation's second-highest jobless rate, at 10.4 percent."

Is Sanford another Republican who needs to take a few courses in economics?
