The Voice of Arizona has the AP wire story:
GOP Rep. Patrick McHenry, a key player in helping craft the Republican message, has offered an unusually blunt description of the Republican strategy right now.
McHenry’s description is buried in this new article from National Journal (sub. only):"We will lose on legislation. But we will win the message war every day, and every week, until November 2010," said Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., an outspoken conservative who has participated on the GOP message teams. "Our goal is to bring down approval numbers for [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and for House Democrats. That will take repetition. This is a marathon, not a sprint."
While the country goes down the tubes, the Republicans will refuse to cooperate in any way, shape or form, for political gain. So while more people lose their jobs, businesses close, and the soup lines and homeless increase, the Republicans will sit on their hands in order to reap some sort of political gain.
(We've seen something like this in the past from Patrick McHenry when he pushed continuing the war in Iraq for all eternity. McHenry, is old enough to still enlist, but he'd rather let your son or daughter go to war. Rep. McHenry was a huge cheerleader for President George W. Bush's war in Iraq.)
If this bit of information today from McHenry is the Republican strategy, Americans should stand up and refuse to take this kind of behavior from the GOP. We voted for change and apparently, the Republicans still haven't gotten the message. Call the National Republican Congressional Committee and give them a piece of your mind:
