Huckabee's Views on AIDS?

The one thing about these presidential campaigns is that everything a candidate has ever said will be discovered and published. Today, we learn more about Mike Huckabee's views on AIDS patients. Breitbart found this AP story and here are some snippets from the article:

....As a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in 1992, Huckabee answered 229 questions submitted to him by The Associated Press. Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies....

"If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague," Huckabee wrote....

"In light of the extraordinary funds already being given for AIDS research, it does not seem that additional federal spending can be justified," Huckabee wrote. "An alternative would be to request that multimillionaire celebrities, such as Elizabeth Taylor (,) Madonna and others who are pushing for more AIDS funding be encouraged to give out of their own personal treasuries increased amounts for AIDS research."

Huckabee did not return messages left with his campaign......

Mr. Huckabee needs to be asked some specific questions about this story, and they include the following:

1. Does he think that AIDS patients should still be isolated?

2. Does he still stand by these statements that he wrote several years ago? Which of his opinions about AIDS has changed?

3. Does he still think that the federal government provides too much money for AIDS research?

4. Can Huckabee explain how AIDS is transmitted?

5. Are there any other individuals that Huckabee thinks should be isolated?

I'm sure that there are excellent journalists and activists who can provide other possible questions for Mr. Huckabee on the topic of AIDS. I hope that Huckabee is forced to answer them.
