The AFL-CIO wants you to know that there are "job killers" among us:
...Job Killer #1: John Kasich: “If it’s in the Yellow Pages, outsource it.” This is the mantra of gubernatorial candidate and former Lehman Brothers executive John Kasich. But it doesn’t end there. There is no doubt John Kasich interests lie with Wall Street. Kasich worked for years as a managing director at Lehman Brothers, one of the Wall Street firms that helped create the economic crisis that caused the loss of tens of thousands of jobs in Ohio....
...Job Killer #2: Rob Portman. Like Kasich, Senate candidate Rob Portman voted for NAFTA and other trade deals that killed Ohio jobs. Portman continued to support trade agreements in his role as Trade Czar for President George W. Bush, that outsourced Ohio jobs overseas. Along with Kasich, Portman also supported tax breaks for companies that moved jobs out of Ohio. Click here for a video on Portman’s job-killing record.
Job Killer #3: Mike DeWine. Republican Attorney General candidate and former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine called NAFTA, which killed tens of thousands of Ohio jobs, a “big success.” DeWine, Portman and Kasich also supported trade “normalization” with China, with the result that more than 90,000 jobs were outsourced from our state. He voted for tax breaks for corporations that shipped jobs overseas and put Wall Street before Ohioans by opposing regulations on predatory lending. Of course, we cannot forget that Kasich went after Ohio's public employee pension plans so that they could invest with his employer---- Lehman Brothers. When Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, those pension plans lost over $400 million. With friends like Kasich....
How can anyone forget Mike DeWine's employee, Jessica Cutler, who worked in DeWine's senate office, until it was discovered she wrote a blog detailing her sexual escapades with congressional staffers. Cutler described her job this way----
(Washington Post)
...Jessica tried opening and sorting mail. That's what she was paid to do as a staff assistant for Sen. Mike DeWine, a Republican from Ohio. She liked to joke that her job was really to throw out the mail, the stacks of letters from earnest voters who believe members of Congress actually care what they think....
Portman is responsible for the economic disaster we've lived through and continue to experience. We've lost jobs, thanks to Portman's trade policies and Portman's control of the Bush budget.
Kasich, Portman and DeWine would do just about anything to promote their "trickle down" economics. We've seen their work and we know that they care little about average Ohioans. Their focus has always been and will continue to be the wealthy. They'll do whatever they can to rollback wages, cut safety regulations, and eviscerate labor laws, because they want to make it easier for businesses and corporations to run over workers' rights and protections, and the environment.
