Late Wednesday

Two Republican candidates stand out for their very extreme views. Take a look at Miller and Angle.

> Joe Miller (Republican- Alaska, endorsed by Palin)
Alan.com
...Among Miller’s views: He wants to eliminate the Department of Education, believes the government shouldn’t pay for unemployment insurance and says of climate change on his campaign site that it “may not even exist.” Among the more mainstream GOP positions he’s taken: Miller would cut welfare; eliminate health care for the poor by scrapping Medicaid; and the Anchorage Daily News reported that he has has called for sweeping cuts to Medicare and Social Security with a goal of phasing them out entirely in favor of total privatization.

Miller is backed by the Family Research Council and opposes abortion even in the cases of rape and incest, a view far to the right of the mainstream of the GOP.

Miller has said that unemployment benefits may not be constitutional and wants to completely repeal health care reform....

> Sharron Angle (Republican - Nevada)
Washington Monthly:
....But as further evidence of Angle's ideological rigidity, consider just how far she's willing to go on women's reproductive rights....

...In a segment that has gone unnoticed since it first aired, the Tea Party-backed candidate told the Bill Manders show -- a favorable platform for Republican candidates -- that she opposed abortion even in cases of rape and incest. A pregnancy under those circumstances, she said, was "God's plan."

Angle told Manders that "in her book," there's never a reason for a woman to terminate her pregnancy. When he asked about women who get impregnated by a rapist or by way of incest, Angle said, "You know, I'm a Christian and I believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of our lives and that he can intercede in all kinds of situations and we need to have a little faith in many things."

What would these candidates tell a young woman who had been raped?  How would they force her to carry a pregnancy to term?  Miller and Angle are not only extreme, but dangerous.  Angle and Miller seem as though they want to impose their religious views on the country.  That is very frightening.

****  Paula Brooks, Democratic candidate for Ohio's 12th district, reminded Republican Pat Tiberi of his lack of accomplishments in Congress.

Dispatch
Democratic challenger Paula Brooks sees the growing national debt and other problems facing the nation and wonders what Republican Rep. Pat Tiberi has accomplished in Washington.
"You've been there 10 years, why not results?" Brooks asked as the two candidates for Ohio's 12th Congressional District sparred frequently during an editorial board meeting with Dispatch editors and reporters yesterday....

Tiberi, and his puppetmaster, Boehner, and the Republicans have been blocking a bill to help small business.  Shame.

*****  Note to reporters --- Don't ask John Kasich about what he did at Lehman Brothers!!!!  He'll get very angry.  Don't ask him about his state income tax roll back plan!!!  He'll get even angrier.  PLEASE don't ask him why he used his influence to rip off Ohio's public pensions.  He'll get even more upset if you ask him how many millions of dollars he made at Lehman and what bonuses he received.  If you do ask him any of these questions, please bring a camera.
