Oh, dear.

Republican Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri is on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Yes, ladies, the man that said this... (WashingtonPost):

In an interview that aired Sunday, Missouri Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin (R) said: “From what I understand from doctors ... if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

....serves on a committee having to do with science. I'm so disgusted that a man that knows absolutely nothing about science was placed on a committee that deals with it. Then again, everything is a joke to the Republicans unless it has to do with their pet causes, or their special contributors.

**** In Illinois, a Republican leaning super PAC made a terrible statement.
Chicago Sun-Times: (h/t TPM)

A conservative SuperPAC touting Duckworth rival Joe Walsh is preparing to dump an extra $2.5 million into the heated 8th Congressional District race — on top of $2 million it has already spent, a source familiar with the plan told the Chicago Sun-Times.

The idea is to “bury Duckworth,” the source said.

The revelation comes a day after Duckworth reported that she personally raised more than five times as much as Walsh did in the last quarter — about $1.5 million to the Republican’s $251,000. That means that the Now or Never SuperPAC spent eight times what Walsh was able to raise himself in the last quarter....

I'm not certain which right wingers are behind the Now or Never Super PAC. Any
person/ group using words like "bury" in referring to a veteran that gave several of her body parts in war, shows a shocking lack of class with those associated with this Now or Never Super PAC.
