It has started. The Republicans and their right wing supporters have started to smear Rep. John Murtha (PA-D) for his remarks about Bush's Iraq War. The same group that attacked Sen. John Kerry in the 2004 election, is now spreading lies about the military service and personal life of Murtha. Raw Story has a collection of articles about the new attacks on Murtha. Here is one quote from the article:
"...Republicans like their soldiers serving, silent and standing for photo ops, not talking back," Marsh wrote at her blog. "When a vet speaks out he's targeted. Murtha is just the latest."
I once read that once a Marine you are always a Marine. I think it is time for all Marines to come to the rescue of the man in Washington, DC who understands them better than anyone else. Show your love and respect for Rep. John Murtha by writing or talking about him in a positive way. If you are serving away from home, in your next letter, e-mail, or telephone call, let your family and friends know that you respect and support Murtha. He is the only one telling the truth about Iraq.
