Time and Time Again, McCain Has Voted Against Troops and Vets

Time and time again John McCain has abandoned our troops and military veterans. You'd think that because of his own military history that McCain would go out of his way to help troops and vets, but he has instead let them down.

Last night on MSNBC's Countdown, Keith Olbermann, gave one of his Special Comments. This time, Olbermann listed the McCain's votes that hurt our men and women in uniform---past and present. Here are some excerpts from Countdown:

....Sen. McCain missed 10 of the 14 Senate votes on Iraq up to the middle of last year. This year, he has missed them all including one to honor the sacrifice of the fallen.

He (McCain) has voted to table or oppose:

  • $20 million for veteran’s health care facilities
  • $322 million for safety equipment for our troops in Iraq
  • $430 million for veterans outpatient care
  • $1 billion in new equipment for the National Guard
And, in separate votes:
  • $1,500,000,000 in additional Veterans’ medical care, to be created by closing tax loopholes
  • $1,800,000,000 in additional Veterans’ medical care, to be created by closing tax loopholes
McCain voted against safety equipment, health care facilities and medical care for our troops and some people still support his candidacy???????????

McCain has let down our troops and our vets. The only support he gives them is rhetoric. Now, McCain wants to ration medical benefits for our veterans. Which veterans will McCain dump---- those with PTSD, or Agent Orange problems or the vets with hearing loss? Which vets will McCain deem not worth treatment? Someone needs to ask him.

When it comes down to it, Sen. Barack Obama voted for bills to help our military and our vets.
