The excitement surrounding the announcement by Sen. Obama about his pick for Vice President was the topic of conversation the last few days around the nation. With Sen. Obama choosing Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate, voters clearly have a choice. Do Americans want to continue with the failed policies of the Bush administration by selecting Bush cheerleader, John McCain? Are Americans ready to set the course for fixing our country, our health care, and our world standing by voting for Obama and Biden?
Ohio's economy is in the toilet. With auto plants closing, businesses laying off workers, and retail stores barely able to survive, we need an infusion of new ideas and programs to get our people back to work. John McCain would be quite happy to continue along the Bush economic policy road without doing anything to increase the economy. McCain would be quite satisfied to continue to reward his good buddies at the oil companies by refusing to tax their windfall profits. Oil companies have been making obscene profits off the backs of hardworking American. McCain seems to think that is fine.
Barack Obama, on the other hand, can get our state's workers back to good paying jobs by encouraging companies to stay in our state, help students get to college, and create a climate where innovation is rewarded.
Those people who would vote for McCain are essentially saying that they enjoy having a poor economy and our troops in Iraq forever. There is more to being President than just leading the troops. A President must be able to inspire and encourage people to move the country forward, and understand economics to get our workforce back to their jobs.
McCain is out of touch. Do you think he has had to deal with filling his own gas tank? He has "staff" that deal with those trivial matters. Do you think if he and his wife own 7 homes that they have to deal with things like shopping for groceries, cleaning the house, and worrying about if they'll have enough money to pay the electric bill? The McCains have staff and business managers to deal with those things. John McCain's life is so removed from the ordinary American that he is completely clueless about what people face day to day.
If we want change, Obama and Biden will help us get there. Ohioans need change.
