Wednesday

***Another Ohioan has been killed in Iraq:
(Dispatch)
There was a calm to James Hale, a U.S. Army corporal and Franklin Heights High School graduate, before his and his family's worlds were shaken....
....Hale, 23, a military policeman since 2003, died last Wednesday in Baghdad, about six weeks after starting his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was a member of the 978th Military Police Co. helping to train Iraqi police.....

Hale is survived by his wife and three young children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

*** I'm sure the Ohio GOP will complain about this!!!!!
(Dayton Daily News)

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner issued a directive Tuesday, Aug. 19, that will end the practice of allowing poll workers to take voting machines home overnight in the days leading to Election Day.

That's right: poll workers in 20 counties had been taking voting machines home — a practice quaintly referred to as "sleepovers."

Brunner said it just didn't fit with the goal of promoting confidence on Nov. 4.....

I can't wait to hear the whining from Kevin DeWine.

**** Is Republican candidate for congress, Kirk Schuring, acting like a "copycat" on energy??? SwingStateProject:

Months after U.S. Congressional Candidate John Boccieri first announced his energy plan, opponent Kirk Schuring has finally offered an energy proposal that endorses many of Boccieri's policies.

Senator Major John Boccieri said in a statement, today:

"I'm flattered that Sen. Schuring has finally embraced energy ideas I've been talking about for months, but I'm disappointed it took him this long to realize people are concerned about high gas prices. Unfortunately, his plan still doesn't provide enough short-term solutions to our high gas prices, and I think voters will wonder whether someone who raised their gas taxes and has taken $20,000 from oil executives is really serious about making the big energy policy changes we need."

Is Schuring aware of what the voters in his district are facing at the gas pump? Maybe Schuring just doesn't care.
