THE GOP: Not a success story

1. Sen. Frist is in involved in some unpleasantness with his stock sale of HCA. People and the SEC are taking notice.

2. Rep. Bob Ney (OH-18:R) accused of intimidation:
"A trio of West Virginia radio talk show hosts claim St. Clairsville GOP Rep. Bob Ney tried to intimidate them after they read newspaper stories on the air that raised ethical questions about Ney's relationship with a controversial Washington lobbyist." http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1120296668121680.xml&coll=2

3.Rep. Deborah Pryce (OH-15: R) is trying to get staffs to attract more minorities to the GOP:

'While Republican House leaders make a coordinated appeal to their conservative base this week, the Republican Conference office will be teaching district staff how to target a wide range of minority groups.
The conference office is flying in district representatives from 85 member offices for a two-day seminar tomorrow and Thursday to discuss minority outreach.
The assembled staff members are scheduled to attend outreach seminars for Asian-American, African-American, Hispanic, Jewish and American Indian constituents. They will also attend seminars with members, staff and political operatives, including Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Ken Mehlman, to discuss ways GOP offices can tout Republican achievements among these minority groups.
“Just as the landscape of each congressional district is different, so are the people who live there,” Conference Chairwoman Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio) wrote in an e-mail. “I hope that through the fly-in (my opinion: Where did they get the money to do this?) we can communicate that reaching out to all communities is important, not only to House Republicans but for the entire Republican Party.”'

(I THINK THE GOP HAS ALREADY DEMONSTRATED THEIR EMPATHY FOR MINORITIES, ELDERLY, AND THE POOR DURING AND AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA. WHAT ELSE HAS THE GOP BROUGHT US? MISMANAGEMENT OF THE WAR IN IRAQ, MISMANAGEMENT OF FEMA, UNEMPLOYMENT, CORPORATIONS OUTSOURCING OVERSEAS, CUTS IN FINANCIAL AID FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS, AN INEPT AND UNFUNDED FEDERAL MANDATE OF 'NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND' ACT, CORRUPTION INVOLVING LOBBYISTS, PORK, AND A LACK OF ETHICS. I AM SURE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO STAY AWAY FROM THE RADICAL, CORRUPT, and HEARTLESS GOP, but this is only my opinion.)
