GOP Pork is Deplorable in Time of Need

With money needed to rebuild those areas hit by Hurricane Katrina, you'd think that the GOP leadership (Hastert, Frist, DeLay, Pryce) would be able to devise a plan to find funding. However, the GOP leadership has proven that they are too selfish http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2005/09/21/tom-delay-wont-give-up-_n_7674.html to work on cutting the pork from their pet projects. The GOP will not consider rolling back those tax breaks for the wealthy, cutting the pork from the highway http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8894520/page/2/ bill, or re-opening the bankruptcy bill to help hurricane victims. Even the very conservative Cato Institute has called for the federal budget to be "pared down." http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/12045 Since Hurricane Rita is on a path to hit another part of the U.S., we can only hope that the GOP will come to their senses. Why does the GOP hate average and disadvantaged Americans?
