GOP's Failure in Ohio

When a political party is more interested in filling their re-election campaign war chests instead of working for the average citizen, that political party is a failure. The GOP has done NOTHING for Ohio except increase corruption, grant contracts to their political contributors, increase unemployment, and misuse the public funds. Here in Ohio, our unemployment is just horrible. According to the Ohio Department and Jobs and Family Services, the state unemployment was 5.8 in September (it was 5.9 in August). This is unacceptable. Also from the report:

'Seven counties had unemployment rates at or above 7.5 percent during September. The counties with the highest rates, other than Meigs, were: Pike, 8.8; Morgan, 8.6; Monroe, 8.3; Scioto, 8.1; Coshocton, 7.7, and Muskingum, 7.5 percent.'

Our governor, Bob Taft has an approval rating of 15%. Taft and his entourage just got back from a tour to Asia. Their announced intention was to try to bring businesses to Ohio. Taft does this every year and the state is still in the toilet. I think he just likes to get out of the state.
In conclusion, in Ohio:
The Republican Party is more interested in political contributions than creating new jobs.
The Republican Party is more interested in giving contracts to their political contributors than working on a fair school funding program.
The Republican Party's elected officials are more interested in spending time with their high-rolling big contributors than talking to their constituents.

Were you invited to any of these events for Deborah Pryce and other Republicans? If you live in Ohio, and you're unemployed or underemployed, you can't afford to go have lunch or dinner at these prices! But if you are a wealthy contributor, you can go rub elbows with these elected officials and tell them how they can vote to benefit your industry. Visit http://www.opensecret.org and http://www.fecinfo.com/ for information on who is giving and who is getting those contributions.
