Ohio: A republican state representative is trying to push for the Ohio English Unity Act to have English as the official language of Ohio. (Personally, I don't think that we are in danger of having German, Hindi, Mandarin, or Croatian overtaking our everyday language.) http://www.dispatch.com Instead of discussing school funding, the rising cost of higher education, healthcare for the poor/elderly, real job creation in Ohio, the GOP is trying to push English as the official language in Ohio. State Rep. Courtney Combs needs to focus on real issues that matter to Ohioans and not some new non-issue to distract people from coingate and other corruption in this state. Once again the GOP is trying to re-play that part in the Wizard of Oz-----"Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain." Except the GOP's phrase would be ------ "Don't pay attention to the corruption, job losses, problems with school funding, increased poverty, and other problems in Ohio. Look over here at the pretty new problem, English."

Mike Pirik's campaign commercial was on again today. It said that he has the honesty we deserve. Really? I think we deserve more honesty than he has provided in the Municipal Clerk of Court office. How were those employees paid incorrectly for overtime? No one has answered that question yet.
The Federal Government: Scooter Libby was indicted. How are Rove and Cheney involved? Is Addington involved too?
Bush picks Alito for his nominee for SCOTUS. Apparently, Alito believes that a woman must seek the approval of her spouse to get an abortion. She has to have her husband's approval???? Approval????? Isn't that draconian? Think progress has a great post on Altio.

Some highlights---Alito would overturn Roe v. Wade, allow race-based discrimination, allow disability-based discrimination, strike down family and medical leave act, supports unauthorized strip searches, and is hostile toward immigrants.
