With this morning's nomination of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Courts, many people will say they know nothing about her. Other than what the White House has released to the press, there are a few things that we can confirm. This is another example of 'cronyism' in this administration. Is she really qualified or is this another example of Bush rewarding his friends? Is she the best and the brightest woman qualified for this lifetime appointment? I doubt it.
In searching about Harriet Miers, I did find some things about her that were not in the press release. According to Open Secrets (http://www.opensecrets.org), Harriet E. Miers contributed $2000 (on 10/8/03) to George W. Bush, and from 1997 to 1999, gave $6415 to GOP candidates and pacs. From 1995-96, she gave $3000 to the campaigns of GOPers Phil Gramm and Pete Sessions.
