Harriet Miers-Against legal, safe abortion?

With this morning's nomination of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Courts, many people will say they know nothing about her. Other than what the White House has released to the press, there are a few things that we can confirm. This is another example of 'cronyism' in this administration. Is she really qualified or is this another example of Bush rewarding his friends? Is she the best and the brightest woman qualified for this lifetime appointment? I doubt it.

In searching about Harriet Miers, I did find some things about her that were not in the press release. Some people believe she is anti-abortion. http://crank.redstate.org/story/2005/10/3/84211/4875 http://www.timothypcarney.com/?p=156 From the UK we have the following statement: "
Another name in the mix is Harriet Miers, Mr Bush’s White House counsel. She has never been a judge but is also firmly anti-abortion." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,11069-1804418,00.html

According to Open Secrets (http://www.opensecrets.org), Harriet E. Miers contributed $2000 (on 10/8/03) to George W. Bush, and from 1997 to 1999, gave $6415 to GOP candidates and pacs. From 1995-96, she gave $3000 to the campaigns of GOPers Phil Gramm and Pete Sessions.

Remember Bush's records for the air national guard? http://www.pnionline.com/dnblog/attytood/archives/cat_national.html
The Bush campaign 'paid "hard-nosed Dallas lawyer named Harriet Miers" $19,000 to review the records. According to Newsweek, one result of her work was to deflect charges that former Texas House Speaker Ben Barnes helped Bush get into the Texas Air National Guard despite low qualifications and a long waiting list. Barnes was later forced to testify under oath that he helped Bush.' http://archive.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=171

Would Miers know anything about the CIA leak? http://politics.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events/ts/093005cialeakcase/im:/050930/480/ny13209300054

Miers was a former board member for the EXODUS Ministries? http://pview.findlaw.com/view/2172806_1?&channel=LP

Miers also said that President Bush "is the most brilliant man" she has ever met. That alone should disqualify her!
